Our new OPEN SOAK
Epsom salt has long been revered by our grandparents and great grandparents. After working long hours at the factory, in the field, and around the home, they knew to go straightaway to the Epsom salt soak. Maybe grandma would pull a large milk pail out (empty of milk, of course) and fill it with hot water. She'd pour a cup or two of Epsom Salt into the water, something she picked up from the local drug store.
As the family sat around the parlor room, grandma would soak her feet in the Epsom salt-water solution while she knitted a sweater. She knew she'd sleep well tonight because her legs and feet wouldn't be giving her problems. She knew the benefits of a daily soak - not only for her feet but for her knees, hips, the rest of her body, and mind.
A little history and intro into Epsom Salt:
When dissolved in warm water, Epsom Salt, is absorbed through the skin transdermally and helps to replenish the level of magnesium in the body. Epsom salt is Magnesium Sulfate. And magnesium is essential to the body and mind, and we would not be alive without it.
There are hundreds of benefits from a daily dose of magnesium, and the ones below only comprise a small list:
Helps produce serotonin, a mood-elevating chemical within the brain that creates a feeling of calm and relaxation.
Increases energy and stamina by improving the production of ATP (your powerhouse in the cell).
Relax the mind, body, and emotions.
Improve sleep and help with staying asleep.
Improve concentration and mental power
Help the muscles and nerves to function properly
Ease pain and relieve inflammation
For those who quite aren't ready for a full-on float, may be very claustrophobic, or for those floaters who want the benefits of a float but don't have enough time that day, our new OPEN SOAK is perfect for you!
While you can take an Epsom salt bath at home, you're crunched into a small tub, the water eventually turns cold, and it may be difficult to relax when a slew of "to-do" lists pop up in your mind of things you could be cleaning, organizing, cooking, etc. With a OPEN SOAK at Blue Oceans Float, you avoid the cramped, uncomfortable setting of a bathtub. You simply sit on our in-pod bench and place your feet in the water - like grandma used to do!
Our special "open" pod in back, named Mac Lir (he's Irish), is perfectly suited for those who want to just soak a little bit without getting their entire body and hair wet.
You may be asking, "how can I get the same benefits as a full float?"
You're still soaking in Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate). One way or another, you're getting the magnesium you need, it's just coming into the body from a different area. It'll still go to the areas that need it the most.
You won't experience the full "sensory deprivation" or "weightlessness", which is ok! If you're not quite ready for the full float experience, you can still find relief and gain all the same benefits that magnesium can provide.
Your next question may then be, "Why even soak my feet in Epsom salt?"
That's a great question! I'm glad you asked!
Additional Epsom Salt Uses (for the feet and up):
Treat toenail fungus
Soothe sprains and bruises
Ease discomfort of gout
Remove foot odor
Exfoliate dead skin
